''We've got some great leaders, a great core group of guys. And we've added some quality people in there, too.'' The Bruins signed free agent Jarome Iginla to fill the vacancy at right wing on the first line created when Nathan Horton signed with Columbus. They also obtained Loui Ericksson from Dallas for Tyler Seguin in an exchange of right wingers. ''I think it's important every once in a while to get some fresh faces in and continue to create that excitement of being competitive and wanting to win every year,'' Julien said. ''You know things can get stale after a while.'' Th...

Jarome Iginla happy to start new era

Jarome Iginla a new kid in the room even after 17 NHL seasons was concerned for a moment yesterday that he might have leaked out information classified top secret by the Claude Julien administration. “Yeah I saw the list there for starting (today)” Iginla began confirming that he will be playing on a line with David Krejci and Milan Lucic. Then he stopped. Had he said too much...

Loui Eriksson Sees Time on Patrice Bergeron’s Line at First Bruins Practice of Training Camp

The Bruins skated on TD Garden for the first time since the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday, and there were plenty of new faces. Loui Eriksson, who the B’s acquired from the Dallas Stars in a July 4 trade that...

Patrice Bergeron, Gregory Campbell Not Yet Ready for Game Action, But Both Cleared for Practice

If the NHL regular season started Wednesday, neither Patrice Bergeron nor Gregory Campbell would be on the ice for the Bruins. The good news for the Bruins, of course, is that the regular season doesn’t start Wednesday. It starts in a few weeks. That might be enough time for Bergeron and Campbell to heal up from their respective injuries, but as of now, they haven’t been cleared...

J.J. Watt Says Zdeno Chara Is Favorite NHL Player, Hockey Was ‘First Love’ Growing Up

If J.J. Watt ever runs himself out of football, the Bruins should look into pairing the 6-foot-5, 289-pound defensive end with the 6-foot-9, 256-pound Zdeno Chara on the blue line. Watt is already a big fan of the defenseman’s game, after all. Really?), and my father cursing at Tom Brady in the kitchen; Autumn has arrived. But, for yours truly...

Day One is in the books for the 2013-14 Boston Bruins and the new faces have passed their first Black and Gold initiation test.
