On Tuesday, the NHL Lockout reached 66 days. With each passing day, the hopes of so many NHL fans fade. Some newer NHL fans likely vow to never watch the NHL again.
The NHL and NHLPA met again Tuesday for the second day in a row. While the two sides have spoken numerous times in the past few weeks and seemingly made some progress, a new collective bargaining agreement does not appear to be on the immediate horizon.
For the Detroit Red Wings, forward Valtteri Filppula succumbed to a sprained right knee while playing for Jokerit in the Finnish professional league. The 28-year-old had posted six goals and nine assists in 16 games played.
Filppula broke out last season for 23 goals and 43 assists, a 26 point increase on his previous career high for the Red Wings. His play in Finland suggested that he was picking up where he left off and on the verge of potential stardom.
