NEWARK, N.J. - Trailing two games to one, the New Jersey Devils needed to play with a sense of urgency in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference final series with the New York Rangers Monday night. It didn't take long to see that the Devils were ready to dominate their arch enemies in every facet of the game. Zach Parise ended his recent scoring drought with two third-period goals, one a power play goal and the other an empty netter, and Bryce Salvador and Travis Zajac each scored a first-period goal, leading the Devils to a dominant 4-1 victory, evening their best-of-seven series with the Rangers at 2-2. Game 5 is set for Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden, and Game 6 will be played Friday night in Newark. "I think our guys responded with a big effort," Devils head coach Peter DeBoer said. "Right from the drop of the puck, we pushed it right away. We had a lot of positives. We put some pressure on them early and just carried it from there. It was the ef...

If Parise doesn’t look good in Rangers blue, what about Flyers orange?

After that little boondoggle regarding Zach Parise’s father perhaps furthering New York Rangers’ fans desires to see Zach Parise turn turncoat…It’s pretty bloody obvious that, regardless of their obvious loyalty to their current employers, both players can expect to have Brinks trucks backed up to their off-season homes and the rest of their careers very comfortably taken...

J.P. Parise back tracks on comments

Zach Parise (Photo credit: Wikipedia) I am one of those fans that is holding out hope that former Fighting Sioux forward Zach Parise ends up signing a free agent contract with the Minnesota Wild in the off season and finishes his hockey career in the "State of hockey." After reading after reading J.P. Parise's comments the other day I got to thinking that...

Fighting Sioux own the night in Devils win

NBCSN ice level announcer/personality Pierre McGuire couldn't seem to say it enough as he kept mentioning the two outstanding players from Grand Forks, ND. While Zach Parise (2002-04) and Travis Zajac (2004-06) are former Fighting Sioux Hockey players - they never played hockey together during their time at UND. Parise left UND in 2004 after playing two season for the Fighting...

Philadelphia Flyers must clear cap space to make changes

The Flyers haven’t ruled defenseman Chris Pronger out for next season, but there little evidence to suggest he will return. Severe post-concussion syndrome threatens to end his NHL career.Should Pronger sit, Philadelphia would gain $5 million in salary cap space once the season begins. That possibility could inspire the Flyers to spend to the cap limit this summer while taking...

Kulfan: Red Wings GM Ken Holland offers a ‘save the date’ notification of Wings’ roster plans

On a day when none other than the Wall Street Journal’s Mike Sieleski quotes the CBC’s Gord Stellick as stating that the Red Wings are going to be the prime suitors for Zach Parise, should he choose to leave New Jersey… One intriguing possibility is the Detroit Red Wings. “He is their guy,” former Toronto Maple Leafs GM Gord Stellick said. “[The Red Wings are] never...

Nerves fray as series gets nasty

In what comes as a surprise to almost no one, the Eastern Conference final with the rival Rangers has turned nasty. The players are going at it. So are the coaches. Now, with the hating-the-other-guys quotient higher than ever, it's a best 2-of-3 series with the Rangers owning home ice for Games 5 (Wednesday night) and 7. "Throughout a seven-game series," left wing...

The excitement of the NHL off-season is just around the corner and there have already been numerous rumors and speculations about who the Hurricanes might go after in the next couple of months.
