LOS ANGELES -- Shane Doan was livid. The cameras and tape recorders were off, but the Phoenix Coyotes captain lingered in the locker room after Game 3 of the Western Conference final, venting his displeasure to a reporter while sitting in another players stall.
It wasnt just the loss and the 3-0 series hole that had Doan annoyed. The Game 3 officiating was playing a starring role in his unbalanced psyche.
He needed an attitude adjustment.
I might have been caught up a little bit in being overly physical in the other games. I had opportunities to play with the puck and make plays and take the puck to the net in the last couple games and didnt do it as well, Doan said before cracking a sheepish smile. It was brought to my attention by some people that are going to help you out with that."
With those gentle reminders in his ear, Doan used the two days off in Los Angeles to regroup, refocus and remember that he is the captain of this team -- the one who sets the tone.
