There’s is nothing that can take away the pain that New York Rangers forward Dominic Moore has felt in the last couple of years, but what happened Thursday should have at least offered a temporary reprieve for the NHL journeyman. Moore scored the only goal in the Rangers’ Game 6 win over the Montreal Canadiens that clinched the Blueshirts’ first Stanley Cup Final appearance in two decades. By all accounts, it couldn’t have happened to a better guy. For those unfamiliar with Moore’s story, he’s been through hell and back. He lost his wife, Katie, to a rare form of liver cancer in January of 2013. In a move that one one can blame, Moore decided to sit out the 2013 season coming out of the NHL lockout. The heart-breaking story was documented on an episode of ESPN’s “E:60″ earlier this season. The 33-year-old decided he’d return for the 2013-14 season, and he signed with the Rangers in July. Moore has played for nine different teams over his career, but going back to the Rangers was a r...

New York Rangers center Derek Stepan is ready to move on from the incident that broke his jaw in the Eastern Conference final against the Montreal Canadiens. Habs forward Brandon Prust delivered a high, late hit to Stepan’s head in the first period of Game 3. The collision broke Stepan’s jaw and forced him to miss Game 4 after undergoing surgery to treat the injury. Prust was...
The New York Rangers have signed 2013 6th round pick Mackenzie Skapski to an Entry-Level Contract, according to… Mackenzie Skapski.
Skapski, who turns 20 in June, came with virtually no fanfare when the Rangers scooped him up at the 2013 Entry Draft, but has since put himself very much on the radar. After a shaky start to the season which included many inconsistent performances...
When you’re in the business of making punny back page headlines, there’s only so many options at your disposal. So when the New York Rangers defeated the Montreal Canadiens Thursday night to advance to the Stanley Cup Final, both the Post and the Daily News had this to say…

The Rangers have signed 2013 6th round pick MacKenzie Skapski (per Skapski’s Twitter) and 2012 4th round pick Calle Andersson (per Adam Herman). Skapski plays for the Kootenay Ice of the WHL, and put together a 2.70 GAA and a .916 SV%. The Rangers are very thin on goaltending prospects, and Skapski has some solid […]

If not for this nasty diving save by Henrik Lundqvist on Thomas Vanek, the Rangers may not have closed out the Habs on Thursday.
The Rangers are on the cusp of the Stanley Cup for several reasons, but one of the main reasons is their team depth. Eight players currently have ten or more points in this years playoffs, while nine forwards currently average over fourteen minutes per game. However, among this depth is also a lingering problem; no […]

This will be Diaz’s first playing time since Game 4 against the Penguins.
Here’s Alain Vigneault on Diaz (via Newsday)…

from Tony Gallagher of the Vancouver Province,

On paper, you are looking at one of the great goaltending mismatches in league history. The Rangers boast perhaps the best goaltender of this century to date, and while...

We deliberately avoided posting the schedule for the Stanley Cup Finals until the Rangers clinched. Most of us have played at some level, and we are a superstitious bunch. Now that the Finals are a reality, here’s the schedule: Game 1 Wednesday, June 4 @ Chi/LA Game 2 Saturday, June 7 @ Chi/LA Game 3 Monday, […]

The man who has had his ups and downs, has heard his share of criticism and who often keeps his distance from the media, looks clairvoyant. Consider his comment on March 5 about having acquired Martin St. Louis for captain Ryan Callahan: "I think the guy that's coming in helps us advance a little farther than we expected to this year....
