The Anaheim Ducks have signed veteran defenseman Sheldon Souray to a three-year, $11 million deal. Anaheim announced the deal Sunday. The 35-year-old Souray revived his career last season with the Dallas Stars, getting six goals and 15 assists in 64 games. The three-time All-Star is joining his fifth team in 12 NHL seasons. Souray spent the 2010-11 season in the AHL while embroiled in a nasty dispute with the Edmonton Oilers, who eventually bought out the final year of his five-year, $27 million contract. With a potent slap shot, Souray was one of the NHL's elite offensive defensemen during his time with the Montreal Canadiens. He also has missed significant stretches of his career with injuries. Souray should provide toughness and veteran leadership for the Ducks' sometimes ineffective defense.

The Buffalo Sabres mission to get tougher took another step forward this evening when they acquired Adam Pardy and Steve Ott from the Dallas Stars for Derek Roy. Stars Sign Ray Whitney

The Stars signed Ray Whitney to a two year $9 million contract with a partial NMC today. It's a move that I personally love. He may be 40-years-old but he's still one of the most consistent scorers in the game (seven straight seasons of 55+ points, the last two with a offensively challenged Phoenix Coyotes team) and provides that great scoring depth to the Stars. He'...
