These types of dirty hits are not acceptable and the NHL needs to be more proactive in removing these types of hits from the game of hockey. Dirty hits take out more hockey players than fights do in the NHL. This is the type of plays that the NHL needs to punish severely and with out apology.
Canucks left winger Daniel Sedin has returned to Vancouver after taking an elbow to the head in a game against Chicago.
A team spokesperson confirmed Thursday that Sedin flew home following Vancouver's 2-1 overtime loss to the Blackhawks a night earlier, when Sedin was sidelined by a hit from Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith in the first period.
Keith received a 2-minute elbowing...
The Vancouver Canucks want the NHL to throw the book at Duncan Keith for his hit on Daniel Sedin on Wednesday night. Ironic, isn’t it, that an organization that has taken more cheap/dirty hits than any in the league in … Continue reading →
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Even before Coyotes captain Shane Doan's three-game suspension was handed down Wednesday, more than one player mentioned that the looming penalty just meant other guys needed to bring a little something extra.
"At the end of the day, it's going to be a chance for other guys to step up coming down the stretch," left wing Raffi Torres said at the...
Watch a video clip of the incident and hear Brendan Shanahan's explanation for the punishment.
Phoenix Coyotes forward Shane Doan has been suspended for three games and will forfeit 166,463.40 for elbowing Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn during Tuesday night's game in Dallas.
Doan, who received a three-game suspension in October 2010, is classified as a repeat offender...
Duncan Keith may be applauded in Boston for his recent hit on Daniel Sedin, but Brendan Shanahan probably isn't happy for what went down during the Blackhawks-Canucks game on Wednesday night in Chicago. Keith came up high with a vicious elbow directed at the Canucks forward's head, as seen in the video below.
Vancouver Canucks left wing Daniel Sedin left Wednesday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks in the first period.
Sedin exited the contest shortly after he was elbowed in the head by Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith.
Although he played on a subsequent power play, Sedin did not return to the game. Earlier in the period, Sedin had hit Keith in the head with his shoulder.
Despite struggling in recent weeks, the Vancouver Canucks still hold a comfortable lead atop the Northwest Division.
They may struggle even more if they're forced to play without Daniel Sedin.
With Sedin's status uncertain, the Canucks will try to cool off the surging Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center on Thursday night.
Vancouver (43-21-9) has stumbled to a 3-5...
I can find no reason the NHL shouldn't suspended the Coyotes forward Shane Doan for this bush league, unnecessary and dirty hit on Dallas forward Jamie Benn. I also don't see how anyone can defense this hit? Rightfully so, Shane Doan has a hearing this afternoon with the department of players safety this afternoon.
Anyone want to guess on what kind of a suspension...
<span style="font-family: Times, "Times New Roman", serif;">The most unlikable team is back in the news again whining about the Chicago Blackhawks; their fans can't figure out why we can’t stand their whinny team. There is just so much ammo and so little time. I will make an attempt...

from Brad Ziemer of the Vancouver Sun, Move over, Stephane Auger, you’ve got company in the Vancouver Canucks’ refereeing doghouse.
Alain Vigneault met with reporters before Thursday night’s game in Dallas to provide an update on injured forward Daniel Sedin. And without actually naming referee Dan O’Halloran, the Canuck coach clearly indicated he wasn’t happy with the...

The Vancouver Canucks responded with an aggressive game against the Stars on Thursday, steeping up the intensity with a 2-1 win over Dallas after losing Daniel Sedin to injury a night before.

Betting Man? Canucks hope to turn it around against Dallas
The Vancouver Canucks showed up on Wednesday night against Chicago – that’s for sure but the one goal they managed to score 27 seconds into the game wasn’t enough as they lost their second straight game and their fourth in the last five.
