Brian Elliott turned aside 32 shots and Alexander Steen continued his dominance against Vancouver with a pair of goals as the St. Louis Blues blanked the host Canucks 3-0 late Wednesday night. Elliott faced few solid scoring chances on the night, but was strong when he had to be on the way to his 10th career shutout. The 26-year-old, who opened the season as the backup to Jaroslav Halak, improved to 4-0-0 on the season. Vancouver has now been blanked three times in its first 10 games this season - including twice at home. The Canucks were shut out once at home all of last season. Following a scoreless first period, Steen ended the stalemate at 7:51 of the middle period. The veteran forward banged home his own rebound of a wobbling shot past netminder Cory Schneider. Steen extended the lead at 6:17 of the third period, deflecting David Backes' wrist shot from the point past Schneider after the Canucks failed to clear the defensive zone.
