Brian Elliott made 24 saves for his third consecutive shutout and T.J. Oshie recorded a goal and an assist as league-leading St. Louis prevailed 3-0 on Tuesday to prevent visiting Nashville from clinching a playoff berth.

Jamie Langenbrunner and David Perron also scored while captain David Backes notched two assists for the Blues, who remained two points ahead of the New York Rangers in the race for the Presidents' Trophy by posting their club-record 30th home victory.

St. Louis also increased its Western Conference lead to four points over Vancouver.

Elliott turned aside eight shots in the first period, 12 in the second and four in the third for his league-leading and franchise-record ninth shutout of the campaign. He eclipsed the previous club mark for blankings in a season set in 1968-69 by Glenn Hall while extending his scoreless streak to 187 minutes, 38 seconds.

After a scoreless first period, Langenbrunner gave Elliott all the offensive support he needed when he beat Pekka Rinne from the slot 6:35 into the second for his sixth goal.

Perron doubled the lead less than five minutes into the third with his fifth tally in nine games. After skating past Nashville defenseman Kevin Klein in the right faceoff circle, Perron received a pass from Backes, cut across the top of the crease and buried a backhander.

Oshie sealed the win with four minutes remaining as he ended his seven-game goalless drought.

Rinne stopped 21 shots for the Predators, who remained one point behind idle Detroit for fourth place in the Western Conference.
