Cory Sarich is admittedly frustrated with his lack of playing time, but the Calgary Flames defenseman admitted that he has not demanded a trade during a recent meeting with general manager Jay Feaster.

"I've voiced what I feel would be best for me to help the team out. Whether or not they agree with that — I know there's a lot of young guys around here that are getting a chance — that is part of the hockey business," Sarich told the Calgary Sun.

"It was initiated by me because I just wanted to be open and honest with him and I really wanted to express to him that I want to contribute to this team, I want to be part of this team. I feel like I could fill a role. In being able to do that, I feel I probably need to be in there on a nightly basis to be able to perform at a level I need to be at.

"I definitely did not demand to be traded."

Sarich, 33, has collected one assist and 25 penalty minutes in 15 games this season.
