The Calgary Flames have placed goalie Miikka Kiprusoff and center Mikael Backlund on injured reserve on Friday.
Kiprusoff was injured in Calgary's 4-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.
Kiprusoff was added to the IR retroactively and is considered day to day with a lower-body injury. Backlund is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks.
The Flames have activated defenseman Anton Babchuk while center Michael Cammalleri remains day to day with a hip flexor and rookie Sven Baertschi is still week to week with a hip flexor.
The team also recalled center Ben Street from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.
Street leads the Abbotsford Heat this season with 12 goals and 19 assists in 44 games. He signed with Calgary last summer as a free agent.
Calgary's next game is Saturday night in Vancouver against the Canucks.

With Kiprusoff sidelined, the Flames get a glimpse into a future they know is coming, maybe sooner than expected.
Kiprusoff has just a year left on his contract, one of those “back-diving” deals the recent NHL-NHLPA labour dispute keyed on. In 2013-14, his salary drops to $1.5-million (U.S.) from $5-million. It is unclear if...
Alex Tanguay scored on a one-timer 1:07 into overtime to lead the Calgary Flames past the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 on Thursday night in a battle of Western Conference cellar-dwellers.
Shortly after Columbus threatened on two shots by Fedor Tyutin, the Flames had an odd-man rush and Jarome Iginla saucered a cross-ice setup to Tanguay, who unloaded from the right dot.

No NHL goaltender has been called upon more often over the last seven years than Miikka Kiprusoff, but the Calgary Flames will be without him for at least Thursday night's road game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Kiprusoff's absence could be a boon for the Blue Jackets, who have struggled to score as much as any team in the league.

It’s hit them quick. And it’s hit them hard.
After ravishing the Edmonton Oilers with ailments – forcing eight regulars out of their line-up – the injury bug made the trip down south to Calgary. Following injuries to workhorse goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff and sniper Michael Cammalleri to MCL and...
The Minnesota Wild were hoping to join the NHL's elite after two high-profile signings in the offseason, but so far, the club is off to a choppy start that doesn't feature any road victories.
Visiting the short-handed Calgary Flames might help the Wild finally end that drought.
Minnesota will try to take advantage of Miikka Kiprusoff's absence to avoid a fifth consecutive...
