Breaking news: The Flash Mob, long believed to have gone the way of the Dodo Bird, traveling calls in NBA basketball games and “Call Me Maybe” lip-sync videos, still exist. And one occurred at the Honda Center on Wednesday night when the Anaheim Ducks hosted the Dallas Stars. Will played out, tired and woefully underwhelming wonders never cease? It was “Social Media Night” at the Honda Center, an event that included many neat activities revolving around Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, so I am sure all the kids had loads of fun while their old fogey parents and grandparents sat with bemused expressions on their faces as they openly questioned what is the highfalutin deal with all the Facestagram and Tweetbooking, consarnit. But the highlight of the evening undoubtedly was the mass, in-arena flash mob. A Flash Mob America production, the flash mob got its groove on in the upper reaches of Honda Center and the song “Harlem” by something called New Politics (darn kids with their rock ‘n roll music — what, is Boz Scaggs, Ambrosia or the Little River Band too good for them?) was used and a grand time was had by one and all. Via Puck Daddy: Well done, folks. In all seriousness, everybody involved did a heckuva job. Although next time, how about doing something really cool and everybody do an en masse rendition of the “Macarena”? Now that would be one hip scene. Can you dig it?
