PLAYERS: Claude Julien
TEAMS: Boston Bruins
The Bruins have fully recovered from the injury bug that hit the team earlier this season, but another bug held several B’s players out of practice this week. Seven skaters (and one assistant coach) sat out Tuesday’s workout with flu-like symptoms. Luckily for the team, this moment of poor help falls during a three-day off period, as Boston will not play its next game until Thursday. Claude Julien‘s squad will also get a chance to enjoy a warmer climate this weekend, as the team travels to Florida to face the Lightning and the Panthers in its next two contests. The ice may not have been crowded on Tuesday, but the stands sure were, with more than 1,000 fans turning out to watch the B’s practice. Check out NESN’s Jamie Erdahl report from Ristuccia Arena in the video above.

Claude Julien, Tyler Seguin, Dougie Hamilton Among Boston Bruins to Visit Newtown Connecticut (Photos)

As the Bruins continue to take it to the league’s best competition on the ice, they still find time to give back to communities off the ice. A number of Bruins, including head coach Claude Julien, center Tyler Seguin and rookie defenseman Dougie Hamilton, took a trip down to Newtown, Conn., on Monday. The B’s payed their respects to the families and children of Newtown...

Bruins Players Play Street Hockey With Kids, Sign Autographs During Trip to Newtown, Conn. (Video)

The Bruins were able to provide a day to remember for a community that has withstood such incredible hardship over the past few months. Head coach Claude Julien and a number of B’s players spent Monday in Newtown, Conn., the site of December’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Children and families from the community were able to participate in a street hockey clinic...

7 Bruins Missing From Practice with Flu

ESPN Boston- WILMINGTON, Mass. – The Bruins gained one, but lost seven for Tuesday morning’s practice at Ristuccia Arena. A sizeable school vacation week crowd saw Milan Lucic return to the ice, after missing the Bruins’ Sunday game in Winnipeg for a personal matter. There was plenty of available ice, however, as seven players were held out with flu-like symptoms. The...

Bruins Looking for Successful Florida Swing After Dropping Two Games Last Year (Video)

After seven Bruins missed practice on Tuesday with flu-like symptoms, the team was back at it on Wednesday. Practicing down in Tampa in advance of the team’s Thursday game against the Lightning, the B’s know they have a tough test in front of them after dropping both games on their Florida swing last year. Although the Panthers are struggling right now, the Lightning are boasting...

Ty Anderson: Will Bruins go all in for Alfie?

The Boston Bruins have their fair share of connections to the Ottawa Senators. The Black-and-Gold were the ones that lured general manager Peter Chiarelli away from the Sens in the summer of 2006, but not before (wink, wink) stealing the 6-foot-9 Zdeno Chara out of Ottawa with a five-year contract that came with a monster payout for the Senator-turned-Bruin. As we’d learn...

Bruins Go To Newtown On Off Day; Prove Awesomeness

From the Bruins:    You often hear "putting smiles on kids' faces" as the importance of offering support to the community, but that was - truly - at the core of the visit. "Important is probably a real small word," said Coach Julien. "For us, it was something that we really wanted to do. The fact that we have that opportunity to come...

Bruins off-season questions (Poll)

While the Bruins season is off to about as good of a start as we could have hoped, it is worth taking a quick look ahead to this off-season when a number of key members of the current squad are set to become free agents. The big names on this list are Andrew Ference, Nathan Horton, Anthon Khudobin, Lane MacDermid, and Tuuka Rask. All are important pieces of the current team, and...

Ty Anderson: Praised depth needs to show up for Bruins

For years now, we’ve lauded the front office strategy of the Boston Bruins. Understandably so. Rather than build a team around one superstar, the Black-and-Gold have built one of the league’s best rosters based on their ability to roll four lines at all times. They can beat you with the first line, or they could beat you with the third line. Hell, maybe even the...

SECOND LOOK: Bruins Recent Power Play Goals

The Bruins have three power play goals in their last four games and have seen their conversation rate bump from a pitiful 9% success rate to a slightly less pitiful 13%. And they've gone from the second worst in the NHL to third worst... hey, baby steps, folks. Just ahead of them on the "awful PP" list is Buffalo (13.6), Columbus (13.6), and Detroit (13.9). ...

14. Boston Bruins at Tampa Bay Lightning. Sun and Fun in Death's Waiting Room

I ******* hate these three day waiting periods between games. It's probably the closest thing to being water boarded that I will ever experience outside of a Bruins power play (although not lately!). The worst part about it is that there isn't **** to write about during this time off, except for that Lindy Ruff got fired 5 years to late which is kind of a ****** thing because...

Bruins-Lightning Live: B’s Return From Break to Finally Face Off With Bolts

8 a.m. ET: The Bruins are scheduled to play the Lightning on Thursday night, and this time around, there’s no chance this one is being snowed out. The B’s are in southern Florida to take on the Lightning to start a two-game swing through the Sunshine State in a rematch of the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals. This will be the first meeting of the two teams, after the first scheduled...
