(via ESPN) Just as Saturday afternoon's game vs the Boston Bruins began, the Flyers acquired a defenseman from Detroit.  On Fan Appreciation Day, the Flyers came out somewhat flat, as they let Boston control the early minutes. Once the game settled down, the Flyers brought some excitement on the powerplay.  Boston's Zdeno Chara took a holding penalty which gave the Flyers, the number one powerplay in the NHL, a chance to take the lead. After some nice passing from Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier, Schenn found Mike Knuble alone in front to make it 1-0. Knuble registered his 4th of the season, and second in as many games since coming off of the healthy scratch list. At the end of the period, Patrice Bergeron and Claude Giroux were involved in a small tussle, which led to a Luke Schenn and Zdeno Chara tug of war. Both Bergeron and Giroux, as well as Chara and L. Schenn received two minutes for roughing. The second period had a much better start for the Flyers, as they held the pressure for the first few minutes. After a few strong shifts, Matt Read ripped one past Tuukka Rask to make it 2-0 Flyers. The Bruins came back with some strong pushes, including the wrap around attempt by Patrice Bergeron, But Ilya Bryzgalov slid across to shut the door. The B's were outshooting the Flyers 24-14 at the end of the second period. Just five minutes into the third period, the Bruins closed the gap as Nathan Horton scored a gift of a rebound, to make it 2-1. The play went back and fourth for most of the period, with Boston still outshooting the Flyers. The Bruins pored the pressure on the Flyers in the final few minutes, but Bryzgalov shut the door. With an empty net and just under minute left in thhe game, Ruslan Fedotenko scored an empty net goal to ice the game. Rusty hustles to pick pocket the Bruins defenseman, turned from center ice and flipped it in the empty net. The Flyers welcome the Washington Capitals to the Wells Fargo Center on Easter Sunday at 6:00pm. Get your Philadelhpia Flyers Tickets here!
