The 25-year-old Swede made his NHL debut on Oct. 6 against the Calgary Flames, stopping 32 shots for his first career victory. In five appearances this season, Lack has a 2-2-0 record and .911 save percentage behind Canucks' No. 1 goalie Roberto Luongo. Prior to this season, Lack played three seasons with the Canucks' American Hockey League affiliates. Canucks Re-Sign Eddie Lack to Two-Year Deal

The Canucks announced today they’ve signed backup goalie Eddie Lack to a two-year contract extension worth $2.3 million. The move comes just four starts into Lack’s NHL career, but clearly he has shown enough in those four starts for the Canucks to invest in him as Luongo’s backup for at least two more seasons. There were questions coming into the season surrounding whether...

The Canucks after 20 games: Part 1 “The good!”

20 games? Already? It’s crazy isn’t it? But it feels like it was yesterday when we were watching Alex Biega and Patrick Mullen during the preseason and thinking: “Oh, sweet Jesus. The Canucks defense has to stay healthy this season. These guys are awful”. But here we are, well into November now and the defense (save for an Alex Edler suspension) has remained in tact. The...

Eddie Lack Signs Two Year Extension With Vancouver by   Steven Ellis

The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed goaltender Eddie Lack to a two-year deal. Never signed, Lack was originally signed by Vancouver as a free agent on April 6, 2010. He is a big goaltender who uses his size to his advantage looking through traffic to see the puck, and aggressively challenging shooters. Last season, while with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL, [...]

Over the last 10… *My* Canucks 3 Stars

Top Canucks Growing up, one of the best parts of watching the game, sometimes even more so than the game itself, wasn’t always Don Cherry’s suit, but rather trying to figure out which three players were going to be honored with the post-game skate after being nominated one of the “3 Stars” of the night. Over the last ten games the Vancouver Canucks have found themselves...

Looking at the Canucks at the quarter-ish way mark

They are what we thought they were The Vancouver Canucks played their 20th game on Sunday – unfortunately it was a loss to their new divisional rival’s the Anaheim Ducks – and are now somewhere in the neighbourhood of a quarter of the way through their season. The Canucks sport a 11-7-2 record and have proven to be every bit the playoff bubble team everyone expected them to...

Vancouver Canucks: The Great Dane Returns

I have missed Jannik Hansen, there I have admitted it publicly, and I have missed watching the tenacious play of the 3rd /4th line player that brings it every night.  The Vancouver Canucks are not short on players that give effort, fight for pucks all over the ice, kill penalties and block shots but there seems to be an obvious void on the roster without him.   Hansen is the ...

David Booth believes there's a place for him with Canucks

David Booth is a believer, in God and himself. Booth acknowledged Wednesday he has leaned heavily on his faith to get through what have been two frustrating years with the Vancouver Canucks. Most recently, it helped him deal with his conditioning stint with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League. “Sometimes when everything is good you kind of think you are entitled to...

Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Game Review: One That Got Away

Thursday November 14 San Jose Sharks 2 - Vancouver Canucks 1 (OT) Here are your highlights from Vancouver's Thursday night homecoming to Rogers Arena: I thought we'd finally see Mount Torts erupt after the Canucks blew a lead against a division rival, then fell in overtime. Instead, we got two and a half minutes of one-word answers and "We played a really...

Tough Loss For The Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks were 01:05 from shutting-out the San Jose Sharks, but with the Sharks goaltender pulled, Hertl scored to tie the game at 1. In OT, Henrik Sedin was called for a hook, if you want to call it that, and the Sharks scored to win the game. John Tortorella post-game and highlights below....   Continue reading "Tough Loss For The Canucks"
