The Toronto Maple Leafs will be without Mikhail Grabovski for two weeks, and fellow forward Clarke MacArthur will also miss time because of injuries sustained in a loss to Phoenix. The team said Wednesday that Grabovski has an undisclosed lower body injury. He left Tuesday night's shootout loss in the third period after a collision at center ice. MacArthur, ruled out of Thursday night's game at Nashville, didn't play after the second period because of an undisclosed upper body injury. The Maple Leafs did get some good news, however, on Wednesday. Toronto coach Ron Wilson said that Tim Connolly is expected to play Thursday against the Predators. He has been out with an upper body injury.

Paul McCann: Game Night - The Taking a TO edition

Game Night in Smashville as the Toronto Maple Leafs are in town for only the fourth time in franchise history. Toronto got off to a blistering start to their season, and still is tied in points with division leading Buffalo. Their record has come back down to earth a bit over the last five games, going 1-3-1. The main reason for Toronto’s recent slide… Injuries. Colby...

Voros Called Rangers For PTO Opportunity With Whale

Yesterday it was reported that Aaron Voros would be signing a Professional Try-Out (PTO) with the Connecticut Whale (AHL).  That officially happened this morning.  Paul Doyle of the Hartford Courant is reporting that it was Voros who called Rangers GM Glen Sather to ask for the chance and not the Rangers reaching out to the 30-year-old forward.  Classy move by Sather and the Rangers...

Two NHL Players Punched Each Other About The Face And Head Last Night (Video)

Ah yes, a little bit of the old NHL ultraviolence on a lovely Friday morning. This entry comes from Thursday night’s Predators-Maple Leafs game and it featured the scrappy pugilistic stylings of Nashville’s Brian McGrattan and Toronto’s Jay Rosehill and let me tell you, the fists were flying with alarming tenacity. There is a whole [...]

Having suffered three straight losses at home, the Toronto Maple Leafs look to get back on track at the Air Canada Centre on Tuesday as they host the Phoenix Coyotes. This is the only meeting between the two clubs this season. Toronto has struggled against Phoenix, losing five-straight dating back to 2003. The most recent loss was a 5-1 defeat in Phoenix last season. The Coyotes...

Top Defenceman This Season

Nearing the end of October I picked Dion Phaneuf of the Toronto Maple Leafs as the top defenceman in the league so far in the season.  While Phaneuf is having an all star calibre season so far, it is clear that he is no longer the top defenceman so far this year.  Several of the usual suspects are having very strong two-way seasons so far.  They include Zdeno Chara of the Boston...
