Mats Sundin is the Swedish-Born Player With the Most Career NHL Goals
Mats Sundin retired from the NHL in 2009, but he still has the most career NHL goals out of any player with 564.
Sundin was initially drafted first overall in the 1989 NHL entry draft and played his first four seasons in the NHL with the Quebec Nordiques.
The Swedish-born player played most of his career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and excluding his rookie season, the shortened lockout...
Mats Sundin Is the Latest Maple Leafs Player to Be Inducted Into the Hockey Hall of Fame
The Maple Leafs may not have had much success on the ice in recent years, but the city of Toronto has had something to celebrate.
Longtime Leafs captain Mats Sundin was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012, capping off a 18-year career with the honor. Sundin was just the second Swedish player to be inducted, and the first to make it on his first year of eligibility.

Mats Sundin Inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame
By Tony Ambrogio (@SNTonyAmbrogio)
As Mats Sundin wrapped up his Hall of Fame induction speech, he looked up into the crowd and said to Maple Leafs fans everywhere, “I will never forget what you have given me.”
It was typical Sundin.
In his first year of eligibility, Mats Sundin joined Pavel Bure, Adam Oates and Joe Sakic into the NHL Hall of Fame.
“I dedicate my induction...
Sundin No-Trade Clause Still haunting The Toronto Maple Leafs
June 28th, 1994. Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Cliff Fletcher pulls off one of his better trades, sending Wendel Clark, Sylvain Lefebvre, Landon Wilson and Toronto’s first round draft choice in 1994 to the now defunct Quebec Nordiques in return for Garth Butcher, Todd Warriner, Mats Sundin and Quebec’s first round draft choice in 1994.
With the ultra-popular Wendel Clark...
Canucks issue a lame duck press release congratulating Pavel Bure & Mats Sundin
Two former Vancouver Canucks made it to the Hockey Hall of Fame today.
Now while I hardly consider Mats Sundin a "former Canuck" I guess this time that is fine.
In my opinion though the Canucks dropped the ball this time. There should have been seperate press releases.
That much is obvious isn't it?
I digress....here is the release.

Mats Sundin’s Canucks Legacy
Mats Sundin’s #13 banner was raised to the rafters of the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Saturday night, and it made me think back to his time in Vancouver. Sundin, as you might remember, spent half a season in blue and green during the 2008-09 season. The Mats Sundin that Canucks fans got to see, at age 38, wasn’t of hall of fame caliber but he wasn’t a bust either.

The longtime captain had his number officially retired in a pregame ceremony on Saturday night before the Maple Leafs faced the Montreal Canadiens. He was the 18th player so honored by the team, including fellow Swede Borje Salming - No. 21.

Former Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin back in Toronto
One of Toronto’s most beloved captains is back in his old stomping grounds.
That’s right, Mats Sundin will be back in Toronto. It’s said the very private Sundin owns property in Toronto, but lives most of the year in Miami.
Mats Sundin will be back in Toronto this week. But not for anything ground-breaking that we know of. He'll be doing some volunteer work...
