Minnesota Wild left winger Guillaume Latendresse is expected to play tonight against the Detroit Red Wings. Latendresse had been held out of Friday’s practice because of a sore hip, which caused concern for many fans. The winger put up 37 points in 55 games in 2009-2010, his first season with the Wild, before missing all but 11 games last year with a torn labrum in his hip, as well as a sports hernia. The team leader in assists was able to participate in this morning’s pre-game skate, and head coach Mike Yeo is very optimistic about his return tonight.
Guillaume’s health is especially good news tonight, as backup goaltender Josh Harding looks to make his first start since March 26th, 2010. Hopefully he won’t be overly rusty, but Minnesota could help him out a lot with puck possession and offensive production.
