SAN JOSE, Calif Josh Harding's injury 2 minutes into the Minnesota Wild's Tuesday night victory against the San Jose Sharks allowed emergency goalie Matt Hackett to enter the game and pick up a win, but it sounds like Harding could be back to work soon. Harding appeared to suffer a neck injury 11 seconds after allowing a goal in the first minute of play. He was hit in the face by teammate Nick Schultz, who was trying to block the Sharks' Joe Pavelski from the net. At Wednesday's practice, Wild coach Mike Yeo updated the status of Harding and forward Devin Setoguchi (lower body), who also left Tuesday's game early in the first period and did not return. "(Harding) feels a lot better today; (Setoguchi) not as much," Yeo said. "Both guys need to be re-evaluated." Starting goalie Nicklas Backstrom missed Tuesday's game with a lingering groin injury but practiced Wednesday and may be ready to return Thursday night when the Wild visit the Kings. "He looked really good out there," Yeo said after practice. "I haven't talked to him since he got off the ice, so I got to meet with him." Hackett, of course, looked really good Tuesday in stopping all 34 shots he faced in his NHL debut. "To have that opportunity to come in and play in your first NHL game and all of a sudden you are thrown to the wolves in a situation like that You can't really say enough about how he handled it," Yeo said. "I'm very excited for him. It was a big moment, and he's worked very hard for that."
