We could have made the title of this post game many different things:

"The Comeback Kids Do It Again" "Killer B's Lead the Comeback: Brayden, Briere, Bryz" "Mr. Playoffs Makes His Presence Felt" "The Lavio-lifeline Saves The Day... Again"

You get the point...

But I do have one serious question to ask Penguins Nation right now:

Okay I'm done with the jokes....

As a consolation for their Game 1 loss, Gary Bettman presented his adopted son Sidney Crosby, on behalf of the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Oscar for "Best Acting Performance".

Seriously, that was the last one. I promise. That was merited though, because the penalties drawn by Crosby and Orpik were BLATANT dives. We know it, the players know it, and anyone watching the game knows it.

We're already fighting an uphill battle by playing the Penguins, so it was extremely important to get the win in Game 1 on the road.

Here's what we gathered from tonight's 4-3 Game 1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

  • The Flyers scored 4 unanswered goals after digging themselves yet another 3-0 hole to start the game.
  • Danny Briere proved a lot of naysayers wrong by putting on his playoff hat, as he's done his entire career. He scored 2 goals tonight, giving him 98 points in 98 career playoff games.
  • Brayden Schenn's playoff debut wasn't too shabby either. 1 goal, 2 assists, 4 hits. He was the best player on the ice today for either team.
  • Ilya Bryzgalov, after allowing three 1st period goals (none of which I blame him for), locked down the fort to finish the game with 25 saves on 28 shots, and his first playoff win in a Flyers uniform. We need Bryz to continue this type of play if we hope to have continued success.
  • Jake Voracek scored his first career playoff goal, and it was a big one- The GW in OT.
  • Even though the Flyers might be in the Pens head, they need to realize it's only Game 1.
  • A 7 game series is a battle and it's the playoffs for a reason... ANYTHING can happen.
  • The Flyers need to come out with the fire they showed through the final 2 periods and OT. If they continue to dig themselves holes, they will eventually get burned.

All in all, it's a game the Flyers should enjoy for tonight, but erase from their minds for Game 2 on Friday. Each game is a whole new scenario, and the Flyers need to be even more prepared heading into that game.

Again, let's take it all in, enjoy the night, and get prepared to do it again on Friday.
