Aaron Musick: Joe Sakic inducted into Hall of Fame

He was a hockey player, a player with a wicked wrist shot, an all star, an olympian and a leader. Now, he's a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. The epilogue to the career of Joe Sakic has been written. During 20 years of professional hockey, Sakic accumulated enough accolades that were they military awards, they would outshine even the most decorated General, included among...

Adam Oates Dishes Thanks Like Passes in Hall of Fame Speech (Video)

On Monday Adam Oates capped a wonderful career by being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. During his acceptance speech Oates continued to do exactly what he did best during his career: flip the glory unto others. Just like a perfect pass for yet another assist, Oates spent much of his speech thanking teammates, singling out Cam Neely and Ray Borque from his time in...

Hockey Hall of Fame Ignores Goalies

The Hockey Hall of Fame inducted four more players today, including two former Canucks, Pavel Bure and Mats Sundin. Bure, Sundin and the other two inductees, Sakic and Oates are all full marks for their induction, but does anyone else find it odd that the Hall of Fame ignores the most important position in hockey, the goaltender? Unless you’re the among the elite of the elite,...

Pavel Bure: My top five moments in time

Pavel Bure Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame Perhaps the most electrifying and vilified player to ever wear a Canucks jersey, Pavel Bure is one of four hockey players now in the the Hockey Hall of Fame. Along with Bure, Joe Sakic, Mats Sundin and Adam Oates were all inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The four players were presented their Hall of Fame rings at a press conference...

Hall of Fame night

Great to see Joe Sakic, Pavel Bure, Mats Sundin and Adam Oates get into the Hockey Hall of Fame. My appearance Friday on XM's The War Room focused on hall of famers - who should be there that isn't, who is there that shouldn't be, etc. These are the great bar stool debates that take place city to city across North America. Some of my favourite conversations with friends...

Richard Cloutier: Hall of the Sorta Okay Hockey Player Induction Ceremony Held

Joe Sakic, I get. Elite point producer. Won a couple of Stanley Cups. Won a Hart Trophy and a Conn Smythe. NHL First Team All-Star three times. The Hockey Hall of Fame (or as my brother-in-law calls it, the Hollyhowk of Fame) lets in too many people. Isn't it just suppose to be for the elite guys: The Gretzky/Messier/Lemieux types? What is Mats Sundin doing in there? Who invited...

Yzerman Or Sakic?

from Adrian Dater of the Denver Post, In Monday's Denver Post, we have a story that polled 10 of the most experienced hockey writers in North America to name the top 10 centers in NHL history. Joe Sakic came in eighth, just behind Bryan Trottier and just ahead of Stan Mikita. Steve Yzerman, the former Detroit Red Wings Hall of Famer, came in sixth. Do we have a...

The Best Toronto Maple Leafs Player?

from Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun, Darryl Sittler led the Leafs in scoring seven different times. Mahovlich did it five times; Keon three times. And for two and a half seasons of magic, no Leaf player was ever better than Doug Gilmour. But longevity disqualifies him from any meaningful debate about the top player in Leafs history. He had the top season. But it's...

Richard Cloutier: With Regards to...

I haven't done one of these type of blogs in a while, so what the heck? I've got time to kill and nothing real to talk about. So here goes... With Regards to...My blog yesterday about the Hall of Fame... They let too many people in, and doing so takes away from the significance of the honor. I got blasted yesterday, mostly from Leafs fans, for my comments that Joe Sakic...

Adam Kirshenblatt: 2012 Induction Festivities: The Assist Machine

With the lockout continuing to eat away at the 2012-2013 NHL season, the biggest guaranteed night of the NHL’s schedule is the Induction ceremony at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Throughout this weekend I will be doing a series of articles outlining each of the Inductees career and the intangibles that make them Hall of Fame worthy. The second guy on the list to talk about would...
