The Admirals opened their season last Friday night with a dramatic come-from-behind win against the Grand Rapids Griffins (the dreaded Red Wing farm club) by a score of 3-2. Patrick Cehlin scored his first goal on North American ice and decided to score another one for the game winner. Mueller scored the first goal for Milwaukee with a great breakaway effort. The Charlotte Checkers are 1-0-1 and are coming off a ninth round shootout loss to the Texas Stars (Dallas Stars affiliate). The Checkers won their contest last Saturday against the Houston Aeros (Minnesota Wild affiliate) by a score of 3-1. This is the first meeting of Milwaukee and Charlotte since the final game of last season; a game that would determine the playoff fate of both teams. Milwaukee stunned Charlotte with a commanding 6-1 win and Charlotte was left on the outside looking in come playoff time. Milwaukee will need to work on special teams for this contest and the rest of the year. Both goals scored by the Griffins were due to poor power play and penalty kill. A short handed goal can be a back-breaker in close games and the Griffins jumped out to a two goal lead because of sloppy power play work. Jeremy Smith played great and his continued growth is a great sign for Nashville Predators fans. If Patrick Cehlin can keep up his game, he could be a huge boon for the Milwaukee Admirals and may be moving into NHL territory in the near future. The Charlotte Checkers need to stay out of the penalty box as they have taken 12 penalties in the last two games. The player to watch on Charlotte is Zach Boychuk who has points in their last two games and is tied with 3 other players for 2nd in the AHL in scoring. —————— Feel free to comment below and be sure to follow us on Twitter @ThePredatorial and @Preducated.
