GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Fueled by a rabid, partisan crowd, North Dakota upset fifth-ranked Minnesota, 2-1, in WCHA rivalry hockey action Friday. Junior defenseman Andrew MacWilliam tallied his first career goal, highlighting North Dakota's triumph at Ralph Engelstad Arena, in front of 11,846 fans. MacWilliam's goal knotted the game at 1-all in the second period. Then, with just 3:35 remaining in regulation, North Dakota star Brock Nelson pushed the hosts ahead for good, as he tallied his 16th goal of the season. North Dakota's Aaron Dell seemingly stood on his head between the pipes, producing 25 saves to secure the hosts' win. The Gophers (15-8-1) got the first goal of the game, from Kyle Rau in the second period, but could never garner much momentum. With its win, North Dakota improved to 12-8-2 on the season.
