Islanders drop Brendan Witt on waivers after no trade takers

It's official: Brendan Witt(notes) has become the first player in NHL history to defeat an SUV and be placed on waivers in the same season. Not that, like, the NHL keeps records on that or anything.Katie Strang of Newsday broke the news that the New York Islanders have placed Witt on waivers today after he was activated from injured reserve.
