(Photo courtesy of newsday.com) If there is one thing about the Islanders that’s for sure regarding next season, it’s that rugged veteran Eric Boulton will still be a part of the team. Michael Wulkan, Boulton’s agent, confirmed Sunday via Twitter that the 37-year-old signed a one-year extension with the Islanders. Boulton has played in 23 games this season, with a total of four points. The four points are Boulton’s highest since the 2010-2011 season, when he played with the Atlanta Thrashers. Since joining the Islanders back in 2012, Boulton has scored just two goals and two assists, in a total of 38 games. In his career, Boulton has managed 77 points–29 goals and 48 assists–in 638 games played in the NHL. The news may be a bit of a shocker considering Boulton has played in so few of the Islanders’ games since joining the team two years ago, but evidently the team enjoys having an enforcer, which is certainly not a bad thing, as the tough forward from Nova Scotia has a total of 88 penalty minutes this season. Regardless of the number of goals and assists, Islanders’ opponents will need to be on the lookout for the rugged, tough and always up for a good hockey fight Eric Boutlon, who prior to the Islanders, has played for the Sabres, Thrashers and Devils.
