Jack Edwards loves what he does for a living; we should all be so lucky.
Maybe that’s the reason that some sports fans are so eager to jump on him when he makes a seemingly over-the-top call while broadcasting Bruins games on NESN.
He was at it again on Tuesday night when the Bruins took on the Rangers at TD Garden. Edwards was shown jumping up and down after Brad Marchand scored to tie the game with under a minute to play. A day later, Edwards defended the jumping and his style.
“I love my job and I love doing what I do,” Edwards said Wednesday during a radio appearance WEEI. “Every once in a while something incredible happens and I get to jump for joy in my job. If people have a problem with that, bring it. I got no problem answering to that.”
Edwards also made it clear that his style isn’t going to be loved by all, but he’s more than willing to explain why he calls games the way he does.
“I understand that some people may have problems with my style,” he added. “I’m certainly willing to talk to anyone on a civil level about anything I say or have said on the air.”
