Dallas Stars forward Brendan Morrow had a wide open net when he got the pass from Erik Cole out front.  Calgary Flames goalie Joey MacDonald did the excellent job of going post-to-post and getting his glove out to make the save.  Lucky for Morrow the Stars went on to win 4-3 and so the sheer robbery by MacDonald didn’t come into play. Ronald McDonald giving ‘Miracle’ speech to CHL team is nightmare fuel (video)

The scene in Miracle where Kurt Russell (as Herb Brooks) delivers a stirring pregame speech to his players is one of the most riveting, lump-in-your-throat moments in any sports film ever. So, it’s not surprising in the least that folks have been re-creating it for their own purposes ever since the movie came out in 2004. One such video documenting a re-creation of the scene that...

Stars weigh options as trade deadline nears

April 3 is the NHL Trade Deadline in this oddly constructed 2013 NHL Season. That gives us 15 days to look at options for the Stars to consider as they head down the road of trying to get from where they are to where they wish to go. And at times, they seem a long ways from where they hope to go. And given that in the last 5 games, they have pulled 3 points out of 10, it might...

Jack Campbell was the man of the week as he started two games and played a majority of the third game. Cris Nilstorp started the first...

Hearing that tonight's Stars-Flames games in Dallas will be "scout central", with an exceptionally widespread plethora of Eastern and Western Conference pro scouts in attendance at a game featuring two clubs on the brink of going into seller mode. Calgary's trade targets, of course, are led by Jarome Iginla and Jay Bouwmeester. The Stars, who have been struggling...

What Happens With Iginla?

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail, The goal for any general manager in a position to sell is the same – drum up a market for his available players. If Feaster can interest two or more teams in Iginla – or in Jay Bouwmeester, Miikka Kiprusoff, Cory Sarich, Lee Stempniak or Mike Cammalleri – then he could get some tangible assets in return. No one can say for sure...

Flames-Predators Preview

Less than a week ago, Calgary soundly beat the Nashville Predators to extend its longest home winning stretch of the season. Based on the way the Flames have played on the road, they'd settle for any margin of victory in the teams' next meeting. The Flames look to avoid their first eight-game road skid in 13 years while trying to hand the Predators a season-high fifth consecutive...
