Toronto Maple Leafs winger Joffrey Lupul was awarded with NHL’s second star of the week, for the week of January 1st to 7th, 2012. During this time Lupul scored 2 goals and added five assist, to contribute to three straight win for the Maple Leafs’. Lupul also surpassed a milestone this past week during the Tampa Bay game. He collected his 300th career NHL point in Toronto’s 7-3 win over the Lightning. Lupul is now tied for fourth place with 47 points, in the NHL’s scoring race. In order for Lupul to get to first place he will be competing with the likes of Claude Giroux, Henrik Sedin and teammate Phil Kessel, who are ahead of him. Though I am sure the scoring race is far from Lupul’s mind, since all Joffrey wants to do now is contribute and extend the Maple Leaf’s 3 game win streak, as they head into back to back match-ups with the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday (in Toronto) and on Friday (in Buffalo).
