RANGERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH FORWARD JOHN MITCHELL
New York, June 30, 2011 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward John Mitchell on a contract extension.
Mitchell, 26, skated in 24 contests with the Connecticut Whale and Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, registering eight goals and nine assists for 17 points, along with 12 penalty minutes. He was acquired by the Rangers from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a seventh round draft pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft on February 28, 2011. Mitchell tallied the game-winning goal with 7.7 seconds remaining in regulation, and added an assist while making his Connecticut debut on March 2 vs. Springfield.
