The Detroit Red Wings made it interesting Sunday afternoon.  The took a 2-0 lead late in the first period before allowing the Kings to score in the last minute of the first.  The 2-1 lead held up for all of the second period and 19:07 of game time in the third period before Alec Martinez tied it up for Los Angeles. Enter Jonathan Ericsson.  The Wings defenseman buried a shot with 4.5 seconds remaining in the third to seal a 3-2 Wings win.  And while the Wings picked up a crucial two points as they maintain they sit among eight teams separated by four points in the Western Conference, Ericsson’s goal didn’t benefit them the most. You see, after the goal, Ericsson received a rather unique “thank you.” “The funniest thing is that one of the linesmen thanked me for scoring.  He said, ‘Thank you so much, I really have to go pee.’ He wouldn’t last overtime.” Ericsson wouldn’t say which linesman it was.  But the two working the game, according to the box score, were Don Henderson and Brad Kovalchik. We’ve all been in that spot.  But I can confidently say that none of us would have left a yellow streak behind us in front of 20,000 hockey fans had we lost the battle. Here’s the clip Ericsson’s goal.  Look at how gingerly the lineman is skating in along the goal line from the top of the screen.  Was it him? He’s kind of doing the “I have to pee” crouch.
