Josh Bailey was sent to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on “loan” today. From what I have read, if he had played in one more game, the Islanders would have had to put Bailey through wavers to make the move, so doing it now saves them from that issue.
After a hot start with 3 goals and 3 assists, Bailey has not found himself on the score sheet in some 17 games. It had appeared as if he was taking that next step forward and becoming more and more the kind of player the Isles were expecting. However, like the rest of the club, things just have not gone right for the former first round pick of 2008.
I guess, at this point, little surprises me as far as roster moves go. Perhaps, a little time at the Port will help him regain his confidence and scoring touch. I think Josh is a professional and mature young man who will handle this move in the way it was intended. Furthermore, I expect to see him back in the lineup for the Isles before long.
