TEAMS: Minnesota Wild, Detroit Red Wings, Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues
Minnesota Wild goaltender Josh Harding has been named the league’s First Star of the week by the NHL. Harding won all three games that he started last week, piling up a .968 save percentage over that period of time, allowing one goal in each game against the Detroit Red Wings, Vancouver Canucks, and St. Louis Blues, respectively. He is 4-0-1 on the year, with a 1.18 goals against average, and a league-leading .965 save percentage.
Harding has surprisingly seemed to lack rustiness to his game after missing all of last season due to torn ACL and MCL ligaments in his right knee. This has been great news for the Wild thus far, as he has surely gotten a team that has struggled to score thus far some points in the standings. Josh will likely get a rest tomorrow night as Minnesota heads to Calgary, giving way to regular starter Niklas Backstrom for the opener to a five game road trip.
