Unless you have a fondness for cocky, pompous, and narcissistic human beings, it’s hard not to smile upon learning that Sean Avery has been placed on waivers by the Rangers.  Nobody has enjoyed watching Avery become John Tortorella’s personal whipping boy more so than yours truly.  Even though the Ranger coach hasn’t publicly chastised his mouthy winger, it’s obvious that Tortorella has absolutely no love lost for Avery.  The fashion guru has played a mere 15 games this season, having served as a healthy scratch for the Blueshirts’ last nine contests.  Avery’s career is now at a crossroads.  No NHL team wants anything to do with him, which isn’t particularly surprising considering it’s virtually impossible to think of another player who’s been more disrespectful towards his teammates, his opponents, his coaches, and the game in general, than Sean Avery.  Continue reading "Just Deserts"

Sean Avery Is Out Of Our Lives Again

Today the Rangers waived Sean Avery for the second time this season. It was a hockey decision: the Rangers needed a forward when they recalled him from Hartford, now they don't. And as John Tortorella somewhat coldly said back in October, "I think we have better players than Sean Avery, plain and simple." At least they got this out...

It’s Go Time! … alumni game today

It will be fun seeing some of the old-timers back in uniform. Not sure it’s two and a half hours worth of fun. I’m sure some of the players will be mic’d up and no doubt interviewed while on the bench. I just hope that the broadcast doesn’t become more about the televising crew (Pierre) than about the players on the ice. I worry that it will. They’d better have Lauren...
