The Los Angeles Kings have filed a formal grievance with the NHL in regard to the health of center Colin Fraser.
Fraser, who was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in the Ryan Smyth trade on June 26, underwent surgery this week to repair an ankle fracture and is out indefinitely.
The Kings are contending that the Oilers misrepresented the extent of Fraser's injury, according to the Los Angeles Times.
"How long it will take, I don't know," Fraser's agent, Jerry Johansen, said of his client's health. "The bottom line is Colin Fraser is going to be healthy. His situation isn't serious. He's going to be 100 percent."
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is expected to review the situation.
Fraser, 26, collected three goals, two assists and 60 penalty minutes in 67 games with the Oilers last season. He was traded to the Kings along with a 2012 seventh-round pick for Smyth
