Los Angeles the city of glitz, glamour and many NBA championships can now say they are Stanley Cup champions after the Los Angeles Kings routed the New Jersey Devils 6-1 in Game 6.

The Kings scored three goals in the first period on one 5 minute major penalty to Devils Steve Bernier for boarding L.A. defensman Rob Scuderi.  Bernier was given a game misconduct for the severity of the hit.  The hit resulted in an injury to the face of Scuderi which, according to Rule 41.5 states if the penalty results in an injury to the face or head then it is an automatic game misconduct.

Dustin Brown scored the first goal while Jeff Carter and Trevor Lewis each scored one of their own in the first period.  Jeff Carter scored again in the second period while Trevor Lewis scored again in the third period along with a goal by Matt Greene.  The Devils only goal came in the second period by Adam Henrique.

After 45 years as a franchise the Kings are Stanley Cup champions.  Dustin Brown became the first player in a Kings sweater to raise the cup, and the first American to receive it from NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman since Derian Hatcher in 1999.

Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick finished the 2012 playoffs with a 16-4 record, a .946 save percentage, 3 shutouts and a 1.41 goals against average to earn the Conn Smythe Trophy.
