ST. PAUL, Minn. The wait and speculation is over. Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu was activated from injured reserve Thursday and will be in the lineup when Minnesota hosts the Vancouver Canucks. Koivu, who hasnt played since Jan. 14 because of a shoulder injury, has been skating in practice and for over a week, but hadnt been cleared to play. The Wild, who are tied for eighth in the Western Conference standings with 58 points, went 3-4-1 with Koivu out of the lineup. Minnesota (25-20-8) also placed defenseman Clayton Stoner on injured reserve and assigned forward Jed Ortmeyer to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League on Thursday. Despite missing 12 games this season, Koivu is still second on the team in scoring with 33 points (nine goals and a team-leading 24 assists) and is a plus-9. Koivu reportedly skated during Thursdays practice with Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi. Heatley, who leads the Wild with 17 goals, developed a connection with center Kyle Brodziak and right wing Nick Johnson while Koivu was out. Setoguchi, however, has just one goal in his past nine games and 10 on the season. Stoner has three assists in 39 games for the Wild this season and is third on the team with 47 penalty minutes. Stoner has missed the past two games after being hurt in the Feb. 2 win at Colorado. Ortmeyer had one assists in his 10 games with Minnesota this season and will go back to Houston, where he had 15 points in 31 games earlier. Follow Brian Hall on Twitter.
