Chicago Blackhawks Hockey - Kris Versteeg hasn’t exactly been “tearing it up” since the Chicago Blackhawks brought him back and now with players like Jeremy Morin stepping up at the right time it might be time for Kris to get familiar with the view from the press box. Kris Versteeg’s Spot Once Playoffs Start Before I dive into this….I am a fan of Versteeg, actually a big fan (I’ll admit it). It is very frustrating to see a guy that has shown he has the goods not playing to his potential. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!! Jeremy Morin’s Case for Playoff Ice Time   Many Blackhawks fans know that Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews should be back (and at 100% according to Q) when the playoffs start. That means there will be lineup shuffling galore once the playoffs start, and when that does happen, coach Joel Quenneville should take a good hard look at how Versteeg has been playing as of late (hint: BAD). The mental mistakes and the turnovers are really killing Versteeg right now, and for some reason he is hesitant to shoot all of a sudden. To add to the theory that Versteeg should see some press box time is how well Jeremy Morin has been playing, and many would argue he deserves the third line winger spot, especially with the chemistry he has shown playing with Bryan Bickell. That brings up another point – - – if Morin can continue to bring out better play from Bryan Bickell, why not stick with whats working? Bickell has not exactly lived up to that new paper he got when the season started, and since being paired up with Morin, fans have seen the old, better version of BDB. Twitter Attacks Versteeg Trust me when I say this….I am not the only one who thinks Kris should be rocking a suit in at least the first round of the playoffs. “Damn it Versteeg” has been seen during the last 10 or so Blackhawks games on twitter quite a bit. Nothing makes me miss Patrick Kane more than watching Kris Versteeg on the top power play unit. — Second City Hockey (@2ndCityHockey) April 10, 2014   The fact that Peter Regin and Jeremy Morin are getting benched in favor of Kris Versteeg and Brandon Bollig at this point is laughable. — James Neveau (@JamesNeveau) March 28, 2014   And it goes on and on but I think you get the point. Versteeg’s Numbers vs. the Blues Now that the Blackhawks most likely will see the rival Blues in the first round, it’s a good time to look at the advanced numbers on “Steeger’s” last 10 games….please note the crap number Versteeg had vs. St. Louis. (If you need a better understanding of advanced stats you can click HERE and HERE) Now let’s compare that….to let’s say….Jeremy Morin (please again note the numbers vs. St. Louis) As the saying goes “numbers don’t lie” and if you notice Morin has essentially been doing more with less time on ice. Press Box Once again, I’m a fan of Versteeg and hope he can come around, but it’s playoff time so there is no time to waste. So hopefully Q (who I trust) will make the right decision when 19 and 88 get back and give Kris some time to maybe grow back this awesome mustache and chill in the press box.   Stats from: Extra Skater Author informationMatt ZawaskiManaging Media Editor at Sports MockeryQuestions or comments please contact info@sportsmockery.com - Thank You for readingTwitterFacebookGoogle+The post Kris Versteeg Stars in ‘How to Lose a Roster Spot in 10 Games’ appeared first on Sports Mockery.
