Via RedWingsFeed, the Detroit News's Ted Kulfan hasn't revealed the Red Wings' training camp roster, but according to Kulfan, Daniel Cleary's not on the roster as a try-out and Damien Brunner's not on the roster, either, meaning that the Wings have moved on. That's to be expected given the team will exceed the salary cap to re-sign RFA Gustav Nyquist, and given that the team's got a glut of forwards and needs to trim salary and players, not add to the mix, to get under the $64.3 million upper limit and 23-man roster limits by 5 PM on September 29th.
As such, Kulfan reports that the Wings are "going with what they've got":
"We have 16 NHL forwards, and kids in Grand Rapids who are pushing and aren’t far away,” Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said Monday. “There will be competition.”
Holland made offers to Cleary and Brunner before unrestricted free agency began July 5, but both were looking for bigger financial deals tha...

Monday was super busy from an "its summer news-wise" perspective, mostly because the second-to-last week in August usually marks the first time that NHL'ers take to the ice. Whether it was Daniel Alfredsson pissing people off in Ottawa (tip for "Alfie": there is nothing you can do that WON'T piss Ottawans off other than hauling tail to Metro Detroit) or...
Everyone is now signed sealed and ready for training camp.

I'm writing this entry "backwards" because its main thrust involves even more fun fun fun stuff pertaining to Daniel Alfredsson's "divorce" from the Ottawa Senators, and I know that you and I are both a little tired of the proceedings given Thursday's trainwreck, never mind the fact that it dragged on into the weekend.
