The Bolts faced a divisional foe in Carolina following a tough loss Monday afternoon. Fortunately for the Lightning they jumped out in front early on against the Hurricanes and didn’t look back, winning 4-1. First period goals by Tom Pyatt and rookie Cory Conacher gave the Lightning a 2-0 going at intermission. The Hurricanes would cut the lead in half in the second period. Ryan Malone’s boarding penalty created a 5-on-3 advantage for Carolina as Conacher was already in the penalty box. As time expired on the 2-man advantage, Hurricanes’ Jeff Skinner put in the backhand making it 2-1. But that is all that Carolina would get as the Bolts would ad two more goals in the third period from Keith Aulie and a power play goal from Ryan Malone. Lightning goalie Mathieu Garon got his first start in net and saved 35 of 36 shots faced. Tampa Bay was 1/6 on the power play.
