The Wings are not exactly known for drafting well when it comes to goalie's with the obvious exception being Jimmy Howard, so when Detroit drafted Petr Mrazek 141st overall in the 5th round of the 2010 NHL entry draft it went largely unnoticed.

Fly ahead to the 2012 WJC in Alberta, and the 19 year old Petr Mrazek is the talk of the town.

Click the jump to find out why

Kenny Holland and his crack team of scouts may have done it once again. Mrazek is the real deal, he Shutout Denmark 7-0 and was the main reason the Czech team beat the US last night. He even came inches from scoring a goal himself.

The Ottawa 67's goalie quickly started turning heads from the moment he entered North America, earning the starting job by the end of the season. Brian Kilrea, the longtime general manager of the Ottawa 67’s has gone as far as saying that after only 100 games, Mrazek may be the greatest goalie the team has seen. His unorthodox style has been compared to fellow Czech Dominic Hasek, and he has incredible speed to go along with his competitiveness. At 19 it is still hard to tell what will become of him, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him vault over all other goalie prospects and eventually become the starter when Jimmy is nearing the end.

Get excited Detroit! This Kid is for real.
