Shortly before 3 PM this afternoon, Mark Streit was named the 13th captain of the New York Islanders. This is a smart choice by the Islanders. Tavares will have his day being captain in the future. Tavares can lead without the ‘C’ and this will give him time to play his game and put up points without the pressure of being captain. Streit becomes the first Swiss born captain in NHL history.
