Sharks winger Martin Havlat left Saturday’s win over the Predators with an injury and it sounds like he could be missing additional time: #SJSharks are saying Marty Havlat is day-to-day with a lower body injury. — David Pollak (@PollakOnSharks) March 3, 2013 That would put the chances Havlat playing in the Sharks’ upcoming two-game trip to Canada in jeopardy. It’s not clear what precisely is bothering Havlat. Again, it’s no secret you’d need to resort to controversial interrogation techniques before getting any information on injuries from the Sharks. Havlat is having a forgettable season thus far, with six points (three goals and three assists) in 20 games.

The Sharks’ Confidence looks SOG-gy

Did the Sharks lack confidence through February?  Well, obviously, but in what?  What has been dragging them down?  Have they dealt with "it" yet? I had a thought yesterday morning, stemming from something one of the Bulls said to me weeks ago.  He mentioned that the offensive game comes first for most players.  They learn defense later with experience.  It wasn...

Predators beaten by Sharks power play unit

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Dan Boyle and Joe Pavelski got San Jose's struggling power-play unit going with goals that helped the Sharks beat the Nashville Predators 2-1 on Saturday night. The Sharks had converted on just three of their past 62 power-play chances heading into the game, a major reason for a February swoon that featured 10 losses in 12 games. But with the man-advantage...

AHL/ECHL Monday Mentions, March 4

AHL: The Worcester Sharks had a lukewarm weekend.   Perhaps it was closer to tepid.  They lost two of three games in three days.  Friday they played at Providence, scoring first but losing 3-1.  That first goal was a short handed tally by Marek Viendensky, at 19:15 of the second period.  It held up until the mid-point of the third period when the Bruins tied the game.  The...

Sharks-Canucks Preview

The San Jose Sharks started to do a better job of limiting the Sedin brothers last season, and they know that's critical against the Vancouver Canucks. The Sharks held the Sedins without a point earlier this year, and these teams meet again Tuesday night in Vancouver - where San Jose has failed to win in regulation in its last eight visits including the postseason. Vancouver...

Scoring unapparent once more in 2-1 loss to Sharks

(Photo by: Don Smith/Getty Images) The Nashville Predators lose their fourth in five games by losing to the San Jose Sharks late Saturday night, 2-1 in regulation. San Jose tied the season series in points and was able to have the final laugh in the regular season series. “[We are] frustrated when we don’t win a game like that,” said the lone goal scorer for...
