Mason Raymond attempted to embarrass the Coyotes defense with a spin-o-rama move on a first period rush Thursday in Toronto. It did not go well. Instead, Raymond wound up lookin’ like the fool when his attempt failed miserably and he wound up flopping around like a fish out of water. That’s so Maple Leafs. The post Mason Raymond attempts spin-o-rama shot, fails miserably appeared first on The Nosebleeds.

GIF: Mason Raymond's failed spin-o-rama

Mason Raymond tried to pull off an ambitious spin-o-rama against the Phoenix Coyotes. It's safe to say things didn't go according to plan. As he backed in towards the Phoenix net, he first lost the puck and then lost his balance in what might be the most embarrassing play of the month.  Maybe this is why you only see the spin-o-rama in the shootout.  (H/T Reddit Hockey) [follow]

Leafs won’t release Rielly for World Juniors

It appears Morgan Rielly won’t be headed to his second straight World Junior Hockey Championship. The Maple Leafs aren’t going to release Rielly for the annual U-20 tournament, GM Dave Nonis announced on Wednesday. The decision comes after great speculation about the rookie defenseman’s availability — especially after the Leafs recalled veteran defenseman John-Michael Liles...

Colin Dambrauskas: Toronto Maple Leafs - It's Broken, Fix It

Follow Colin on Twitter!: @ColinDJD We all knew to expect that the coaching staff and decisions made by the Leafs brass of late would be questioned the moment they begun to slide. Top 5 Gifts the Maple Leafs Need This Christmas

The Maple Leafs have lost 5 of 6 going into Thursday’s tilt against the Phoenix Coyotes and currently lie six points short of automatic playoff qualification from their division. With that in mind, here are five things that would make Randy Carlyle smile more than when he got his bread stuck in the toaster. Phil Kessel will be an even happier man when Tyler Bozak returns to...

Full blog coming around Noon, but the Leafs announced that they will not release rookie defenseman Morgan Rielly to Team Canada for the upcoming World Juniors in Sweden. #TMLtalk News: Morgan Rielly will remain with the Leafs and not be loaned to Team Canada for the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship.— Toronto Maple Leafs (@MapleLeafs) December 18, 2013...

The Dave Nonis Excuse Derby by   Curtis Morrison

. The Toronto Maple Leafs are struggling. There is clearly no doubt there. For the first time this year, the team’s playoff chances have dwindled below the 50% mark, according to sportsclubstats.com. Their extraordinary shooting and save percentages from the beginning of the year have began predictably dwindling towards the middle of the pack and their goaltending quality has dropped [...]

Dreger: Cody Franson a potential target

On today’s Dreger Report, Darren Dreger noted that the Rangers are still shopping Michael Del Zotto, and that the Leafs are still a potential fit. Since the Rangers are looking for a right-handed shot on the blue line, Cody Franson is the name that Dreger has thrown out as a potential target. Dreger also mentions that Jake Gardiner is being shopped by the Leafs. If I had a choice...

Coyotes-Maple Leafs Preview

The slumping Toronto Maple Leafs haven't had much go their way over the last three weeks. They've also struggled against the visiting Phoenix Coyotes, who go for a seventh consecutive win in the series Thursday night. After opening 14-8-1, the Maple Leafs (17-16-3) have dropped into eighth place in the Eastern Conference behind a 3-8-2 slide dating to Nov. 25. Toronto has...

James van Riemsdyk and Joffrey Lupul scored in the shootout and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Phoenix Coyotes 2-1 on Thursday. Troy Bodie scored in regulation and James Reimer made 34 saves for the win, just the Leafs' second in their past seven games. Martin Hanzal scored for the Coyotes and Mike Smith made 26 saves. Unlike in their previous loss to the Florida Panthers...

Eklund: Your Call: Is Phaneuf Worth a Max-Term Contract?

With the NHL salary cap ceiling about to shoot up next year -- and, almost certainly, to continue expanding rapidly in the years to follow -- there is virtually zero doubt that impending unrestricted free agent Dion Phaneuf could command a $7 million to $8 million cap hit on the open market. There is really no point in debating whether he's "worth" that cap hit...

Mid-90’s trade rumors helped fuel Stevie Y

I don't plan on following the reports from the Maple Leafs alumni's practices ahead of the "Alumni Showdown" games--save noting that the Toronto Star reported that Mats Sundin won't be able to take part due to knee surgery--and I've kind of ignored Sportsnet's "Greatest Maple Leafs of All Time" profiles on their 24/7 page (again, the "...

Red Wings-Maple Leafs set-up and overnight report: tonight’s game’s more than a convenient narrative

While I'm dashing through the sleet to attend my family's Christmas party this evening, the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs will tangle in something of a Winter Classic preview (7 PM, FSD/CBC/NHL Network U.S. with the usual Center Ice/GCL blackout/97.1 FM), all ahead of tonight's episode of HBO's 24/7 series at 10 PM (EST; again, the alternate showings are...
