The Calgary Flames can’t clone Michael Cammalleri. Too bad, really, because this rebuilding bunch is starved for offensive game-breakers. Cammalleri has been on an absolute roll of late, scoring five times over the past five games. The rest of his Flames teammates have combined for just five goals over that same span. “You look at the Stamkos, the Ovechkins, the Kovalchuks, all the great goal-scorers ... ” said Flames head coach Bob Hartley. “When they’re hot, anything they touch gets the red light on, and that’s what Cammy is doing right now.” The Flames have a 3-7-1 record since Cammalleri returned from a hand/wrist injury, although you can’t gripe about the contributions they’re getting from the 31-year-old left-winger. Despite missing the first seven dates on the regular-season slate, Cammalleri already leads the Flames with eight snipes. In fact, he’s scored nearly one-third of Calgary’s goals — eight of 26 — in the 11 games since he returned. “We all have a lot of different responsibilities on the team but, for a group of us, part of our responsibility is to produce offence,” said Cammalleri, anxious to downplay his scoring exploits when his team has just three points to show for their past seven outings. “So when you feel like you’re fulfilling that part of your duty, that’s a good thing.” Thing is, Cammalleri needs some help. Heading into Thursday’s date with the Dallas Stars at the Saddledome (7 p.m., Sportsnet Calgary, Sportsnet Fan 960), the Flames have too many guy streaking the other direction. David Jones has been blanked in six straight outings. Mikael Backlund is on a 10-game goal-scoring drought, while Sven Baertschi’s dry-spell has reached 11 appearances. TJ Galiardi hasn’t turned on the red light since the second night of the season, with 16 skates in the rearview mirror since his only tally with his new team. Hartley admitted after Wednesday’s practice that Cammalleri “has a gift” and “you can’t teach the ability to find open ice,” but Calgary’s head coach offered a fascinating response when asked what his teammates can learn from No. 13.
