Calgary Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff gave up a brutal goal to Detroit Red Wings defenseman Johan Franzen late in Wednesday night's game at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Franzen's shot from center ice took a short hop and bounced through Kiprusoff's pads into the net.
Fortunately, the goal wasn't enough to rally the Red Wings from behind, as the Flames were able to hold on for a 3-2 victory.

Tonight the Calgary Flames will play host to the Detroit Red Wings in their third and final meeting of the season. Surprisingly, the Flames are up two games in the series and could sweep Detroit at home tonight.

You can empty the cliche bag regarding the necessity of the Detroit Red Wings earning points against the Calgary Flames this evening (9:30 PM EDT, FSD Plus/TSN/97.1 FM), but nobody's been talking about the degree of difficulty that the Wings actually find themselves facing this evening.
The Wings and their workhorse goaltender have to find a way to upstage what will be the...
Miikka Kiprusoff, amid speculation he'll retire at season's end, made 32 saves in Calgary's regular-season home finale Friday night to lead the Flames to a 3-1 victory over the playoff-bound Anaheim Ducks.

Clinging to the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference playoff picture and a 21-year playoff streak, the Red Wings could've used a win against the not-very-good Calgary Flames on the road. Instead, they gave away two brutal goals and lost 3-2.
At 47 points, the Wings are still holding on to the No. 8 spot due to having the tie breaker over the Columbus Blue Jackets...
