Minnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu stole the glove of Vancouver Canucks center Alex Burrows as the players were heading toward their respective benches during Tuesday night's game at the Rogers Centre. Koivu entered the Wild bench with the glove, then tossed it back out onto the ice after Burrows entered the Canucks bench. Burrows was left to try to reach for his glove with his stick, but fortunately teammate Keith Ballard was able to get it for him. Koivu probably got a good chuckle out of his prank, but the Canucks got the last laugh as they won the game 2-1. H/T Puck Daddy. Visit us at holdoutsports.com and follow us on Twitter @HoldoutSports.

Wild activate defenseman Spurgeon from IR

The Minnesota Wild will get a defensive boost for Tuesday night's game at Vancouver. Minnesota activated defenseman Jared Spurgeon from injured reserve Tuesday afternoon and placed forward Matt Kassian on waivers. Earlier in the day, the Wild had called up goaltender Darcy Kuemper from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League and sent down defenseman Marco Scandella....

Wild send Coyle, Kassian to Houston

The Minnesota Wild announced Thursday that it has reassigned forwards Charlie Coyle and Matt Kassian to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. Coyle, 20, was recalled by Minnesota on Feb. 3 and made his NHL debut at Phoenix on Feb. 4. He took part in five games with Minnesota and averaged 14:48 of action while registering six shots. Coyle, one of the teams top prospects...

Yeo: Travel no excuse for Wild's struggles

ST. PAUL, Minn. Learning how to handle the grind of this lockout-shortened NHL season is one of the most difficult challenges teams will face, a constant trial-and-error in regard to travel and practice time, when to work players and when to rest them. The Minnesota Wild travel more than any team in the NHL this year. Minnesota planned on changing its travel habits, possibly staying...

New MS meds have left Harding a little off

Goalie Josh Harding knew there would be some uncertainty and adjustments in his return to the Minnesota Wild after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis late last summer. Harding worked diligently to return to the lineup, even posting a shutout during his return in the second game of the season. But Harding said Tuesday he has been feeling "a little off" the past few...

Brunette retires, joins Wild's hockey ops

ST. PAUL, Minn. Andrew Brunette helped the Minnesota Wild for six seasons as a gritty forward willing to do the dirty work down low and along the boards. Now, he will try to help the team by finding players who compete the same way. Brunette, 39, announced his retirement after 16 seasons in the NHL and Minnesota general manager Chuck Fletcher said he will join the organization...

Brad Ratgen: Listless Wild Limp Into Vancouver After Unimpressive Win in Calgary

Tonight, the Minnesota Wild play in their third set of back-to-back games. Having already swept their first two back-to-back challenges this season, the Wild look to improve to 6-0-0 in that category before returning home to Minnesota for a Valentine’s Day match against the Colorado Avalanche. This season, the Wild will play a total of nine sets of back-to-back games including...

Minnesota Wild vs. Vancouver Canucks Game 12 notes, prediction & tweets!

A Wild Time of Year Right as the Canucks are at their hottest, the schedule is at it’s thinnest. The team is in a stretch where they play just five games in 12 days, hardly the compressed schedule the lockout created. At the same time, the Canucks have won five straight and look poised to wrap up the Northwest by mid-March. Let’s hope all this time off doesn’t kill their momentum...

Brad Ratgen: Welcome Back Bruno!

Well, due to technical difficulties, there will be no pre-game report as per usual. However, I’d like to share with you why I think the hiring of Wes Walz and Andrew Brunette (two of my favoirte Wild players) by the Minnesota Wild front office are both good hirings. Walz was such a work horse. A blue collar sort of player and could skate like the wind. In the playoffs...

Kuemper solid in NHL debut but not enough to win as Vancouver prevails 2-1

Team America: World Police is a film by the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone and in this film about diabolical plans of now-deceased dictator Kim Jong Il, the movie featured a song called Montage.  By the film's own crude standards the lyrics are completely tame here's just a sample.  "Show a lot of things happing at once, Remind everyone of what...

Minnesota Wild vs. Canucks: The taming of the Wild

Four points on the line Two points were up for grabs to whoever won the game, but the more important two points were the ones that would vault Henrik Sedin over Markus Naslund for the all-time franchise lead. The Sedin’s and Alex Burrows tried valiantly all game to make history, but were denied by a stingy rookie and some bad puck luck. The Canucks though were good enough to grab...

Ian Esplen: Wild/Canucks

Follow me on twitter @IanEsplen to chat hockey, sports and life in general anytime The Minnesota Wild are back in Rogers Arena for the first time this season and they will be looking to avenge the 4-1 spanking they received less than a week ago. Alain Vigneault was apparently not impressed with Cory Schneider during the skills contest on Sunday, as Roberto Luongo will...

Koivu's 500th game a memorable one as he buries a goal in the shootout to give Wild a 2-1 ...

A poster named Geo has an interesting signature that I think fits hockey fans just about anywhere, but especially in the State of Hockey.  "Three wins in a row means you plan a Stanley Cup parade route, three losses in a row means trade everyone."  After the Wild's most recent skid, the natives we re getting restless and message boards and comment sections of Wild...
