Tonight’s slate:
Senators @ Rangers, 3:00 ET
Panthers @ Sabres, 7:00
Penguins @ Maple Leafs, 7:00
Bruins @ Canadiens, 7:00
Sharks @ Islanders, 7:00
Hurricanes @ Flyers, 7:00

Game of the night:
Washington Capitals (7-1-0) @ Vancouver Canucks (4-5-1)
7:30 ET… TV: NHL Network (US), Local Networks

Players to watch:
WSH- Troy Brouwer
Brouwer is on the top line, so don’t expect to stay silent (offensively) for much longer.
VAN- Ryan Kesler
The Canucks need more from Kesler, who hasn’t quite looked like himself thus far.

Starting goaltenders:
WSH- Tomas Vokoun (2011-12 stats: 6-1-0, 1.83 GAA)
VAN- Roberto Luongo (2011-12 stats: 2-3-1, 3.46 GAA)

Injury report:
WSH- Mike Green (ankle, questionable), Michal Neuvirth (foot, probable), Jay Beagle (head, out), Tom Poti (groin, out), John Erskine (shoulder, out)
VAN- Mason Raymond (back, out), Aaron Rome (hand, out)

Game thoughts:
Before the season, these were arguably the two most talented teams on paper. They have started in different directions, though. Washington started with a bang, winning seven straight to open the season. Vancouver, who has dropped two straight, seems to be suffering from a bit of a Game 7 hangover. Couple the fact that the Caps have won once in Vancouver in the last 13 years with the Canucks needing a win on home ice (badly), I like the Canucks here.
Prediction: Canucks 3, Capitals 2

The rest of today’s predictions:
Rangers over Senators
Sabres over Panthers
Maple Leafs over Penguins
Bruins over Canadiens
Islanders over Sharks
Flyers over Hurricanes
Lightning over Jets
Predators over Ducks
Red Wings over Wild
Stars over Devils
Blackhawks over Blue Jackets
Coyotes over Kings
