Well sort of at least.

Mursak has recovered from his fractured ankle which put him out in the preseason and temporarily gave Fabian Brunnstrom a chance at cracking the lineup.  The Wings, in response, have sent him down to the AHL for a conditioning stint to get his game back. Hopefully, this won’t take very long, because right now the Wings injuring fourth liners faster than Steve Mason can let in goals.

Hit the jump for more regarding Mursak's chances:

To be back, though, you have to be here in the first place right?  Well I guess his 19 game stint last year counts.  He scored a goal in his very first NHL game, following it up with a whopping zero points his next 18.  I’m hoping for a little more this go around, as he has essentially made this team out of necessity, not because of an incredible preseason or high level of talent.  In fact, the most he’s ever scored at the AHL level was 42 points.

Hockey’s Future is a little more optimistic about Mursak, but I see him at best is a Drew Miller in the future:

Talent Analysis

He is an excellent skater and has a very well-developed hockey sense. Mursak plays the game with lots of intensity and is willing to go the extra mile to get the goal.

Future

Mursak projects as a third line winger with offensive upside. Could potentially fill in a top 6 spot if needed. He will begin the 2011-12 season battling for a spot on Detroit’s 3rd and 4th lines, likely rotating in and out of the line-up.

Hopefully he gets his game together in the AHL or Conner gets healthy soon, because Andersson isn’t a NHL player yet.

BTW, it's good to be back watching Wings hockey after a long exams/week in the Bahamas (can't complain!).  Postings should be returning to regular over the next few days.  Thanks for being understanding and keep spreading the word about NOHS!
