By Kristin Tullo (@K_Tullo) Getty Images The New Jersey Devils felt their first breath of life Saturday night when they pummeled Henrik Lundqvist and the Rangers 4-0 at the Prudential Center for their first victory of the season. The otherwise winless Devils will be back in action tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets in hopes of stringing together their first two-game win streak. Tonight’s meeting between the Blue Jackets and Devils will be the first of four this season and the first between the clubs since Columbus joined the Eastern Conference. In their seven prior meetings in Columbus the Devils lead the series 4-2-1 and are 8-2-2 overall. This will be the fifth inter-conference battle for the Devils and the fourth against a Metropolitan Division rival. Peter DeBoer will go with his same six defenseman as he did on Saturday night, which means Adam Larsson and Martin Brodeur will sit out once again. Larsson was a healthy scratch on Saturday night, not for the first time this ...

Brodeur OK with Schneider taking No.1 job

Martin Brodeur has been the starting goaltender for the New Jersey Devils for 20 years and for most of his career he never seemed close to relinquishing it. However that’s exactly the case as a recent strong spell from Cory Schneider has the 41-year-old legend re-considering his position. Brodeur praised his teammate’s consistency this season and made it clear that his only...

Martin Brodeur says Cory Schneider is the team's No. 1 goalie now

It was going to happen sooner or later. Cory Schneider was going to assume the role as the Devils’ No. 1 goalie taking the baton from Martin Brodeur and getting a run of starts. Clearly it’s happening sooner rather than later. Schneider will make his third straight start in goal Thursday night when the Devils host the Vancouver Canucks at Prudential Center and Brodeur acknowledged...

Devils’ Damien Brunner feels better, status for Tuesday unsure

Damien Brunner of the New Jersey Devils missed Saturday nights 4-0 win over the hated rival New York Rangers, but the hope is that is all the time he will miss. Brunner is said to be feeling better about the upper body injury he suffered. He shared this Sunday with Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice. Brunner said “Better than yesterday, it’s a little bit better”.  When asked about...

Todd Cordell: New Jersey Devils: A Sign Of Things To Come?

Sunday afternoon it was announced that when the New Jersey Devils take on Columbus Tuesday night, Cory Schneider will start for the Devils. This will be the first time this season that Schneider will start two consecutive games. Martin Brodeur has already done so. The Devils aren't entering a set of back-to-backs, either, as they're off Wednesday so DeBoer is putting...

New Jersey Devils Slumping; No Light at the End of the Tunnel

By Kristin Tullo (@K_Tullo) Following 13 straight playoff appearances by the New Jersey Devils, the organization that has reached the Stanley Cup Finals three times in that time span has been suffering. With no end in sight for the sinking Devils (1-5-3), the front office has to be better than it has been. It’s not just on the players this time. The Devils have missed the postseason...

Cory Schneider will make third straight start in goal Thursday vs. Canucks

Devils coach Pete De Boer said Cory Schneider will make his third consecutive start in goal Thursday night when the team hosts the Vancouver Canucks at Prudential Center. He said the team will not have captain Bryce Salvador who returned to Lethbridge Alberta because of a death in his family. DeBoer said no decision has been made as to whether AHL recall Eric Gelinas will play...

Around The Hockey World On A Monday Morning

from Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal, - It could get messy for the New Jersey Devils as Martin Brodeur is looking his age (finally!) with an .865 save percentage while Cory Schneider is .927 and is better by almost a goal and a half a game. Right now, they are rotating, but at what point do they go to Schneider two out of every three if he’s clearly better than the winningest...

Canucks-Devils Preview

There will be far less fanfare surrounding Cory Schneider's second start against his former Vancouver Canucks teammates than the first just over two weeks ago, leaving him to focus solely on helping the New Jersey Devils bust out of their slump. New Jersey will be without captain Bryce Salvador, though, when it hosts Vancouver on Thursday night. The Canucks traded Schneider...

Early season struggles early for New York Rangers’ netminder

After another shaky performance in goal last night, Henrik Lundqvist was pegged, as he often is, as that player that has to be better for the Rangers. It’s not unfamiliar rhetoric surrounding The King, who, by virtue of being the team’s best player, is the one who people point to when things aren’t going well. When a team depends on a guy the way the Rangers depend on Lundqvist...

Henrik Lundqvist out tomorrow

Per Steve Zipay, Henrik Lundqvist will not play tomorrow in Philadelphia. Hank missed yesterday’s practice with what was deemed a “minor” issue, but apparently it is enough to keep him out of tomorrow’s game. Cam Talbot will make his NHL debut tomorrow. Tweet

Practice notes: New powerplays/lines, Hank out with “minor” issue

Per Pat Leonard, Henrik Lundqvist did not practice today due to a “minor” issue. In another tweet later, Leonard noted that Alain Vigneault is not 100% certain that Hank can play on Thursday in Philadelphia. Also per Leonard, AV switched up his lines once more, which answers some questions from yesterday’s confusing combos: Chris Kreider-Derek Stepan-Brad Richards Benoit Pouliot...

Lundqvist Won’t Dress For Thursday’s Game, But Will Travel

from Andrew Gross of Ranger Rants, Coach Alain Vigneault made Henrik Lundqvist’s absence from Thursday night’s game at Philadelphia official today when he announced his star goalie would not dress for the game as he continues to battle an undisclosed injury. “If this had been a playoff game, he’d probably be playing,” Vigneault said. “It’s something that...

Rangers @ Flyers Preview

The Flyers host the Rangers at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia Thursday night. The Rangers, with a record of 2-5, are off to a rocky start, however, not quite as rocky as the Flyers, with a record of 1-7. Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist will miss Thursday’s game, coach  Alain Vigneault said Wednesday. An official diagnosis has yet to be confirmed, but the injuries are...

MAG: Vanity Fair’s Top 10 Best-Dressed NHL Players

Hockey players have style too! Vanity Fair has curated their list of the Top 10 Best-Dressed NHL Players. Cool list, but my only beef was that there was only one New York Ranger on this list, Henrik Lundqvist. They’re the most stylish team in hockey! they forgot my guys  Brian Boyle, Michael Del Zotto, and Brad Ricards. Those three should of been included in the top 10 in my opinion...
