The New Jersey Devils’ playoffs hopes are slowly fading (via photos.nj) For the ninth time in 10 shootouts this season, the New Jersey Devils were shutout. This time, it came at the hands of a New York Islanders team that had 10 rookies dressed in it’s lineup including goaltender Anders Nilsson.  Dating back to last season, the Devils have now lost an NHL record 14 consecutive shootouts. If that’s not bad enough, the Devils’ forwards are shooting at a hair above a 3-percent success rate. As a team, the Devils are 1-for-30 this season. Their only shootout goal came from rookie Reid Boucher, who is currently with the Devils’ AHL affiliate, the Albany Devils. That means, of the players currently on the Devils roster, nobody has scored a goal in a shootout this season. The shootout losses sting more and more given the Devils’ situation in the standings. With eight games remaining on the schedule, New Jersey is sitting five points out of the last Wild Card spot. If the Devils had won jus...

Martin Brodeur is 80% sure he’ll pull a Mike Modano

Martin Brodeur is a New Jersey Devil. For many of us, who have been following hockey since or before his rookie season at age 19, he is the New Jersey Devils. I would be lying if I didn’t breathe a sigh of relief when the trade deadline ended and he was still in New Jersey. The thought of Brodeur on any other team seems foreign. Of course, team loyalty is but part of the equation...

In his 12th 50-point season, Devils' Patrik Elias gives much of the credit to linemate Adam Henrique

For the 12th time in his Devils career, Patrik Elias has scored 50 or more points in a season. No one is close to that franchise record, with John MacLean and Kirk Muller each doing it seven times. Elias credits his mental approach since the Olympic break, as well as being linemates with Adam Henrique in nine of the 14 games since returning from Sochi, Russia. “I feel much better...

Zajac hat trick powers Devils past Panthers

It’s hard to think this may be the final time Martin Brodeur plays for the Devils, but if it were … goodness, the indignity.
